We started Perla Murano Glass to bring authentic, hand-blown Murano glass jewelry to people who can't visit the furnaces themselves. Every piece is made using techniques passed down over seven centuries on the island of Murano, shipped straight from Venice.
Murano glassmaking dates back to 1291, when Venice's furnaces were moved to the island of Murano, both to protect the city from fire risk and to keep the glassmakers' techniques close, on an island easier to control. Over seven centuries, that isolation turned into a concentration of skill found nowhere else: generations of maestri passing down lamp-working, murrine, and glass-blowing techniques that are still done entirely by hand today.
Every piece here is made using those same traditional techniques: no molds, no mass production. Small variations in color, bubbles, and shape aren't flaws; they're what a hand-blown piece looks like, and no two are ever quite identical.
